San Diego County is in the southwest corner of California. Our county has an area of 4,314 square miles. San Diego County has a few cities and many smaller communities. The total population in this county is approx 2.7 million, mostly concentrated in the western regions. Even so, more than half of San Diego County is rural in nature. The rural land is used for agriculture and ranching. Much of the east county is mountanous, and the eastern-most portions of the county are desert.
